Grant Description

Grants of up to $1,500 to Alberta registered charities in eligible regions for programs and services beyond the organization's annual budget. Funding is intended for programs in the areas of sports, recreation, and culture. Eligible organizations serve residents in Whitecourt and Woodlands County.

The Whitecourt Enhancement Grant was established to offer recreation, art and culture organizations and groups additional assistance for the enhancement of programs, services, special events, specialized equipment or facilities that are not normally funded through their annual budget.

The objectives of the grant are:

To provide funding to local recreation, arts, and culture organizations for the enhancement of programs, services, special events, specialized equipment or facilities that are not normally funded through their annual budget.
To enhance recreation opportunities and the well-being of the residents of Whitecourt and Woodlands County.
To enhance sport, recreation, arts and cultural development.
To promote and encourage volunteerism and community spirit by enhancing the work of local volunteer organizations.
To provide a funding source for recreation, art and culture programs, services, events, facilities or equipment that is not eligible for funding from other municipal, provincial or federal sources.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

All applicants should be registered non-profit organizations that have been incorporated or show that they are working towards achieving incorporated status.

Ineligible

Organizations and/or agencies are not eligible for Enhancement Grant Funding if they have already received funding through the Town of Whitecourt’s annual budget, unless the application is distinct from funding already received; or may be ineligible if the project duplicates services already provided within the community.

Organizations that have overdue or incomplete reporting relating to a previously approved Town of Whitecourt grant project will be considered ineligible.

Applications will be considered ineligible for funding if the applicant shows a financial surplus greater than 25% of its annual operating budget.

Pre-Proposal Conference

An Enhancement Grant Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, March 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Forest Interpretive Centre.

Pre-Application Information

Applications for the 2023 program are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 17, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
