Grants typically of up to $20,000 to Alberta registered charities in eligible locations for initiatives that address urgent community needs during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Focus areas include youth, inclusion, environment, and animals. Funding is intended to support agencies providing services to people living in the Calgary region. The Foundation may consider supporting Calgary-based charities providing services elsewhere.

In response to the COVID-19 situation, Nickle Family Foundation will streamline its application and approval process with the objective of helping with the community’s most urgent needs.

The Foundation's priorities:

  • Immediate client wellness needs
  • Agencies with whom the Foundation has partnered in the past
  • Agencies ineligible for United Way or government emergency funding

The Foundation wants to make grants that will show the greatest possible impact for its relatively small pool of funds. A contribution from the Foundation must be critical to the applicant's success, and the impact of a grant must be measurable.
